Can doing "deep work" actually make you richer?
Or is it all just coaching BS?
The first time I met Alecia, she was sitting across a table from me, smiling and replying to someone who’d asked her what she does.
“I help entrepreneurs with their branding,” she’d said.
And I remember thinking two things:
Wow, she has beautiful hair.
Does branding actually make people money?
I’m not going to lie to you guys — when I’d hear the word “branding,” I think of expensive fonts and fake success.
Basically a way to look more successful than you actually are, and sell people on buying your story.
“I help turn your deepest calling into a profitable business,” she later told me.
I was intrigued. But when she told me that she helped one client go from $2,500 to $50,000 … well, I was very intrigued.
What problem do your highest-paying clients hire you to help them solve?
“I think it’s around how to communicate their specific genius.
And there usually isn’t a path paved to do that. So, we start by finding the words and the visuals that communicate very clearly what you’re doing — so when you start sharing it, it really lands with the right people.
Then the second piece is often the sales process of this skill.
Once you know how to talk about what you’re doing with confidence, now let’s build the confidence around selling it.
My favorite way is the top down method. So, starting at premium pricing, and then we can build the business model around that.
I really like to get people into healthy cash flow, so they can put money into the business and then start using it to not only build safety in their nervous system, but also to invest back in and keep growing this thing.
Premium pricing is a very quick way to do that.”
But what does “premium pricing” mean?
“People online will say that $3,000 is ‘high ticket’ and I’m like, ‘Oh my god, you guys are crazy!’
That’s not that much money, especially if this person's been in business for 20 years.
My 1:1 clients have 10+ years’ experience in business. They think, ‘Well, I can get $2,500 for this, so that’s good.’
But these are the people who should be charging $25k, $100k, even $500k — I haven’t sold that with a client yet, but I know I could.”
Taking a client from $2,500 to $50,000
“This one client had his offer going, but he was selling it for $2,500 on these extended payment plans.
So, I helped him rework it—find where his genius is in this, what will get the best results for his clients, and make it higher value so he could charge more.
And we had to do a lot of reprogramming around past stuff, like how he was leading his team (and even himself) as the CEO.
His first leap was from $2,500 to $5,000. Then he raised it to $12,000. Now, he’s getting $50,000 pay-in-fulls for that same service.
We didn’t completely rebrand and start something new. We just got clearer on the offer. We made him communicate it better, have a cleaner sales process, and own his premium pricing.
So what exactly does Alecia do?
“I have a clear starting process for all my 1:1 clients. I focus on a lot of the structural and tactical strategies right away because I want to clean up what’s been slowing them down.
On our first call, I get them to tell me everything—childhood, business experience, where they want to go.
Then the next call is strategy. What are you selling? How are you selling it? What’s the price point?
I want to get them some quick wins so they can start to feel what it’ll feel like to be this new version of themselves.
Once we start seeing some results from those tweaks, then we get into the deeper inner work.
20% [of this work] is the strategy — 80% is your energy and your mind.
Some people think you can just be like, ‘I’m going to charge $50k’ and just do it.
But there’s a lot of deep work that goes into this — to hold that sales conversation without squirming inside and messing it all up is actually challenging.
These are things that I teach my clients — how to be a good leader and communicate this confidently, have a really clean sales process that allows for rejection and the onboarding of amazing clients.”
For you…
I went into this thinking branding was bullsh*t. Now I think it’s just misunderstood.
You can’t build a $50,000 business with a $2,500 mindset.
Deep work isn’t journaling your feelings. It’s rewiring your brain so you can do the bigger things you keep saying you want.
And that deep work might not make you rich right away—but it’ll make you ready to stop acting broke.
